hi to you all,i am new to this site and own my first 4x4 (range rover).
help needed,my 3.9 range is over heating.it is fine on tickover but when i drive it approx 8 miles the temp gauge goes right up to the top and the water leaks out the top of the expansion tank.any ideas what it might be.i have been told it might be head gasket,please help many thanks ferrit

Is the heater getting hot in the car?? is ther any sign of oil in the water or vice versa??

Yep. Sounds like the head gasket to me. Need to get the system pressure tested to be sure, but if there is pressure build up in the expansion tank then I would say the gasket has gone.

If you change it make sure you check for cracks in the heads as well.
