new member with a few questions.

hello all. just thought i would introduce myself! i am 19 yrs old and looking to buy a defender. i have always had fond memories as a child in my dads 110 300tdi. i am looking to sell my saloon so i have a budget of around 10k. i am not sure weather to get a td5 or a 300tdi. i know tdi generally is easier to fix/maintain and is more reliable but they are getting hard to find decent ones. i currently have three i like. Two 300 tdi's and a td5. the tdi is from motodrome and td5 from a dealer, who underseals and gives a 12mth mot to the car before selling. insurance im guessing will also be a problem, i have a years ncd on my 2l skoda, so hopefully that will help.

If you do not know Defenders then find someone who does and is mechanically minded to go with you.

Looking at both of them, they are 2 different beasts.

You need to define to yourself what you want from the fender and what you are going to use it for.

i will be driving it to work everyday, i also live on a farm so will be offroad and intend to go greenlaning with my friend often.
