hello,i see that etiquette dictates that i should say hello here. hello to all :)I've got a 110 defender for farmwork,a couple of disco's for bits and a 1960 series diesel which is giving me a bit of a headache!Its pretty original and as such is awful to drive!Do i sell to an enthusiast to restore or make a few upgrades to make it a more tolerable ride? any thoughts?
 
First Landy I drove was in 1976 at the Transport and Road Research Laboratory (none of this TRL rubbish) and was a SIII 109 diesel with a mains generator run off the main engine (great for a cuppa when you're working!). I quickly learned that you don't steer series Land Rovers, you guide them, and between you there is a general understanding as to which way you really want the vehicle to go!

20 years later when I was looking to buy my own Landy I looked at several series vehicles and it was like putting on an old pair of slippers - you understand them and they understand you. In the end I bought a 110, not because of the steering (it is a different beast) but because it was in good nick for the price (thank you RAF for looking after it so well).

In essence I think you have to learn to live with (and love) a leaf spring Landy, or give up and go for the coils - which ever you choose - good luck!
