I was looking on DVLA website and have just discovered that if you own a vehicle it must be insured at all times. Exceptions are if it is SORNed or off road prior to SORN legislation in 1998. So if you have a Landrover on the road for part of the year, cancel the insurance but let the tax run its course, you could be fined as it must be SORNed at the same time as insurance is cancelled. Thats going to catch a lot of Landy owners out, especially classic motors where its tax free but still taxed and off road. FFS !
