Hey guys ive just purchased my self a land rover defender 1997 300 Tdi with 100k on the clock. and i slightly went over my budget, but the fact being that the car is pristeen and pretty much lived in a stable for the whole of its life. :)

but with me going slightly over on my budget im in need of a place to get hold of some cheap parts so i need a point in the right directions.

im after :

a safari snorkle (front facing one not the cone shaped one if you know what i mean?? :cool:)

and a set of offroad driving lights ( ive looked at some cheaper ones i.e. wipak but im in two minds that with them being nessescarily cheaper are they as effective? :confused:)

heres a pic of her :) shes been in the pipes for a long while and ive been waiting for my insurance to drop enough so i could afford one.

Nice lookin landy Dave!
Try rebel 4x4 for snorkel ( stay away from chequer plate though unless you want a ribbin) or see trewy's post bout a home made one.Wipac lights are good enough if you get the 8 inch ones, it depends on how much you wanna spend, if you wanna be posh get yourself some PIAA lights or KC daylighters

Your insurance is that high? Im 18 with no no-claims discount and my insurance 3rd party was under £500 with the NFU, although im not the "main driver", as I dont use it that often.

you can get light just as effective even cheaper, some folk on here do great deals on light bars and spots. hehe!
very clean and strait looking landy there mate!
 
if you wanna blow some serious dosh on some amazing lights try the roolights,they will cost you around £150 pair as aposed to around £45 for a pair of wipac 8" lights .i have been told the beam distance is staggering but i havent seen them in operation meselfff if you want to gain maximum light output on the wipacs you have to remove the grills.but they seem ok
 
As for lights i see plenty of people have mentioned brands on here but in my opinion THE best lights are Lightforce from Australia, available in this country mind. Have a look on ebay, theres 140's, 170's and 240's, the 170's are probably best for driving lamps. I personally dont have em for driving lights but i use a 170, 4 nights a week foxing and have no problem shooting out to 400yds with one!!! A friend of mine uses a 240 for lamping and can shoot out to 600yds, which believe me for a lamp is a fooking long way!!! Quite expensive at about £250 for a pair of 170's but unparalleled in their usefulness!!!!

hey sorry ive been distracted ive had alot of set aside ploughing to get done at the farm :( :eek: . yeah she cost me £4.4 but shes a real stunner. im just in the proccess of doing a deal with my mate for a set of alloys for her as this just seems to be the main downfall to her. :confused: theyre hurricane 18inch alloys .. but i want them to be able to take abit of offroad nonsense since already ive scaled 2 banks gone over more fields than i can count :p since ive got the power i may aswell make use of it eh? :D
does anyone know if i can put a set of offroad tyres on these alloys?

does anybody have a clue in the way of costings for the hub adaptors to fit the hurricane alloys. or alternatively does anybody have a set of free style alloys they would like to let go of ? :rolleyes:
