Hi everyone.
This is GREAT, a chance to talk with fellow enthusiasts, swap ideas and pictures of those muddy exploits offroad or wherever. To remember those special days of Landrover get togethers at Solihull or ponder over those heady days of Ascot racecourse Car- Marts where you could get that difficult to find badge for your beanie hat. Now we have e-bay where can bid away for 9 days 23 hours 59 minutes and 50 seconds to our hearts content for that right hand side side step with the correct pattern, only to be thwarted in the dying seconds by a complete unknown **** who will pay way over the odds for it. Am I bitter .... Noooooooh.
Land rovers, what would we do without them? Be richer for a start!! The piece of ****e stood out on my driveway has recently cost me over a grand. That makes over two grand in the last 6 months... I only took it in to have the plug lead changed, 'cos I couldn't get at the end where it connects to the split coil, and the ACE blew up on the way there. The mess was unbelieveable!!!
I picked it up 3 weeks later, yepp, 3 weeks they had it, didn't even give it a wash! I created my own scirrocco on the way home with the dust that was on the bonnet. But at least I got home.
Took me 2 days to wash and polish the old girl and she DID look good. So I called for the current Mrs H. and off we went for a little drive in the country.
Now how far did I get before I broke down? Go on, have a guess!!!!
24 miles to be exact. That when the ABS -TC - HDC lights and shortly after the handbrake and SLS lights appeared and we ground to a shaky halt. An urgent phone call to my LR mechanic to recover me reveals
the MAF unit has packed up, which is only gonna cost me £156 plus labour. I also need a front brake sensor, 2 new Discs and pads and f-f-f-fck knows what else. In future I'm not taking her indoors out anywhere if this is gonna happen everytime. Now at the moment she stands in all her glory, resplendant in Epsom green polished to the Hilt, going absolutely nowhere.......I pass her twice a day as I get into my wifes renault Clio and go to work and wonder what it like to be a real LANDROVER driver..
My old man once said to me "if its got tyres or tits, its bound to give ya trouble" How bloody right he was..
