Hi. Alex Northern Ireland. Just purchased a 03 serengeti 5 door. Overall very happy with purchase. Bit of reading and lurking on here pointed me what to look out for.
So far:
Replaced passanger window mechanism. Love the way the bolt attaching the glass to mechanism is so easy to diconnect when you put window fully down. But hold on...my windows broke....(Wtf....) Need a hand the size of a 9 month baby with the grip of Mike Tyson.
Identified internal front light issue. The actual connector ends was so badly corroded that they have broke off. Going to try and jury rig something or get a connector and bit of cable to splice from breakers. The pcb was corroded as well but that cleaned up okay.
Got a tow bar , fitting this saturday. Nice thats she has never been used for towing.
Has had new clutch (alledgedly, but a bit of a thump when changing gear).
Will be looking at carrier bearings etc when at tow bar.
Thermostat stuck open.ithankfully its been a mild winter so far. Ill look at that when servicing her Saturday. Either Renault 5 hack or originial. Depends on how masochistic im feeling.
And on the subject of servicing and masochistic tendencies , who the hell thought putting the fuel filter under the rear wheel was a good idea..?????? Really looking forward to that one...
Other than that she seems to be in good order.
