Hello my names kyle and I've bought a 2.5dse p38 on 1998 with 113k on clock and its got 3 faults that are driving me crazy...

1) when I turn a left corner the display says the tailgate is open then the light comes as as if a door/tailgate is open then goes off almost straight away.

2) when the vehicle is warm it will kick down then when it gets up to redlining and changes up a gear it won't pick up past 3000 rpm and won't pick up any speed till I take my foot off the gas and re apply it...

3) when warn ad on a motorway travelling at 80mph with cruise control on it will kick down a gear randomly and it's a little worrying...

I've had the car 2 weeks and over that time it's started doing these problems more offen.. It's have a gearbox oil and filter change about 2 years ago as shower by receipts.. Any help would be smashing...

Check and adjust tailgate catch. Check gearbox oil level, check colour of oil should be light crimsom. At speed it is dropping out of convertor lockup. The speed limit is 70 mph by the way.:D

Wish i could afford to drive mine at 80........
He obviously is only running it at that speed because he doesn't intend driving it much. A few £60 fines and 3 points a time added to licence and it'll be languishing on a drive somewhere. ;)

Haha I know the speed limits 70 but its weird tho do they all do this.. And how do I adjust tailgate catch
Grab hold of the RAVE manuals as no doubt the adjustment process will be in there!

Link to it can be found in Wammers Compressor Checking How To in the How To section!

And as for the speed limit thing...glad you know it is 70, but when dealing with the plod who will pull you, don't tell them that you kinow it is 70 but you felt like doing 80, they won't appreciate it!:D

Well I've check fluid level and its fine the colour is red so looks fine to me.. Well have a look at the catch tomorrow

Gosh where shall I start , let's see. Firstly, not everyone uses the other sections of the site. I personally rarely go outside the Range Rover area. So to assume everyone has seen that thread is a bit silly. Secondly, the post I made was relevant to this thread, therefore no harm in posting it. Thirdly and the one I like best is , perhaps if you were keeping up, you wouldn't now have myself and several others laughing at you.
Now how did that go again? Oh yes :D :p ;)

The sad thing is that you will never realise how witty it actually is.
