Hi guys. I found your forum on Google and liked the look of it. I'm just in the process of buying a fairly tired 90, but it's got good kit on it. Internal roll cage, lift kit, V8 lump. I'm looking to fix it up to use as a toy, and hopefully either supercharge it or squeeze a Trans Am engine into it, and fit an auto box from a Range Rover.

I'll be picking your brains fairly soon, and hopefully you wont get fed up with my stupid questions! I love landys but my mechanical knowledge is hopeless. We all have to start somewhere though don't we?

I've had two landys in the past, a D90 300tdi hardtop and a D110 300tdi pickup. Both cost me far too much money to be my every day vehicle so I now drive an L200

Now you hate me, I'll speak to you all later!

Cheers,

Neil

Mounting a Hummer H1 Body Shell on Disco 1 drivetrain

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone.
I am a cardiologist and working on cars is my hobby. I am currently mounting a Hummer H1 body (Ex US Army) which I bought off a scrap yard in USA , onto a Land Rover Discovery 1.
The project is going well. I have extended the chassis of the Disco by 22 inches and now plan to transplant the hummer shell on to it.
I will be posting pictures on this forum soon.

That's an interesting one! Personally I want my 90 to look like a 90. Most of the appeal of a Defender is the look of the front end, so it will have to stay standard (apart from a tube winch bumper and maybe some roof mounted lights)

I'll post some pics as soon as I get it. I've not seen it myself yet so I have no idea what I'm likely to end up with. I'm told it's tidyish but needs some work. To be honest my main interest in it are the add-ons. I was planning to buy a scrapper for panels and parts and buy an engine, box and chassis for it. As this thing sounds drivable and it's going to cost me around £500 I can't see how much can go wrong. I will get my money back easily by breaking it if I have to, the current owner just wants rid and can't be bothered I guess.

Whatever happens, I'm really looking forward to getting my new rust bucket!
