Hi all,

I'm a new member to this forum. I've been slowly doing up a 1989 RRC 2.5 Turbo D (2.5 VM) over the last year and have raided the forum for info many times via Google. Such a wealth of info on here and I hope that I might be able to put a bit back in from personal experience.

So far, I've replaced: most of the steering components, a lot of the cooling system including the water pump, tyres, ball joints, front prop UJ, the odd damper, plenty of bushes, the batteries, wipers, some of the interior trim, at least a dozen seals and sensors, and the Welsh plates which was one of the first jobs. I've sorted out 101 electrical problems with only a few more to go (until something blows or gets shaken loose), removed the crap reversing sensors and faulty alarm system both retrofitted pretty unsympathetically, cleaned and reseated injectors and sorted out a few dings in the body work but have stopped short of some sill welding, a proper body job and a respray, at least for the moment. My beloved chariot still needs love and attention but she is definitely getting there! My MOT is coming up and I hope that I might be able to pick a few brains over some last remaining bits and pieces. I'm a traditionalist and have tried to keep everything as original as possible with no real mods.

Looking forward to helping where I can and asking for advice where I get stuck.

All best,

Z.

Hello and welcome,
Any pics?

I cannot believe that I'm saying this but yes, as of today! Had to resort to roadside assistance. I feel humiliated! Think that it's the clutch or possibly the retrofitted R380 gearbox.

Harrumph!
