new Defender owner

Hi all - just bought my first Land Rover - a 2004 Defender 90 (photos to come!) which I will be driving around Shropshire in!

I've been trying to find out on the internet why my VIN has an engine number "5" rather than the usual "8" for a TD5... apparently it means it's "EU5 spec". I've tried to find out what this means in practice for me (btw I'm a total novice at these things!) but not much luck... any help appreciated!!

I like exploring the countryside so will probably do the occasional green lane... in any case some of our "paved" roads are not suitable for non-4x4 vehicles!

Do you have any security?

If not. Get a clutch claw and a steering wheel lock.

Read some of the horror stories in the stolen section if you need convincing.
