Just picked me landy up from having a new clutch fitted!

Thought it would be less hassel taking it into a garage this time!

Its a right **** selecting 1st at a stand still and near enough impossible selecting reverse!! (Had to drive down the ****ing estate to turn round instead of reversing onto me drive..... and then i had to do a U-turn across both pavements in order to get it point home again!)

Any way, the guy at the garage said it may just need the plate wearing down a bit!?

When i select a gear (Especially reverse) Its as if the clutch is hardly depressing and grinds!

On my drive iv managed to select reverse but its as if the gears are not engaging properly?!

It has an LT77 box which was reconditioned and i only fitted it this Jan!

Has anyone experienced anything like this before?

Ah remember me,
not being one to hold a grudge-the master cylinder has adjustment under the plate

Fanatic..... How could i forget! I knew you were a nice guy after all ;)

Cheers mate! you would have thought the guy who fitted it knew that??

How would i go about adjusting the master cylinder?

under the plate there is a threaded bar-sounds like there isn't enough throw on it, trick is adjust so clutch totally disengages and doesn't cause any issues with pedal right to the floor.
Also tight fitting splines can cause the problem you describe-normally if need cleaning and clutch friction plate exceptionally tight on splines.

Thats great thanks for that! That will be me first job in the morning as its chucking it down here!

When you say the clutch friction plate is tight on splines, would this get better in time as the clutch beds in/wears?

Either you are not releasing the pressure plate enough-check tomorrow and try adjusting.
Reverse a good gear as no syncro (if the box has not disengaged it will be obvious)

If it is the spline to friction plate, hopefully it will improve over a couple of days
(I always clean the splines and try the friction plate on them before fitting the box)

But most likely you need to adjust the master cylinder threaded adjuster rod

Great stuff thanks for that, ill have a play tomorrow. Thats put me mind at rest!

Il let ya know how it goes

Cheers, Scott

No joy today with the adjustment..... Tried adjusting either way, all the way, and still same.

However it is actually getting better as though it just needs wearing down slightly.
