I did a little guide for myself
Choose #1 cyl on the dizzy, mark it as such and the other lead teminals with the rest of the firing order (see exhaust manifold) in anti clock direction ( rotor spins anticlock).
Get your hand crank and set the motor at 6 deg btdc (a good start for using unleaded).
Use a torch and look for the mark on the pulley, line this with the first spikeon the marker tab above pulley (6 deg), motor turns clockwise!
You must be on compression stroke on #1 cyl for your 6 deg, to check take out plug and feel it push finger off when cranked. Note where rotor is pointing mentally.
Install dizzy and bolt collar to block, it only goes in in one way, make sure it clicks in.
Line rotor to your labelled #1 cyl terminal; to do this fit diz cap and draw line from centre of lead terminal for #1 down onto dizzy body in perm marker pen. Remove cap, twist diz body to line up rotor to your marked line.
So now you rotor arm is ponting to 6btdc on ign stroke and the dizzy body is going to fire #1 at that point. Be exact, use a ruler, take your time.
Clamp down dizzy half tight for now on pinch bolt.
Install plug leads in order you labelled.
Fire up and see you she sounds, if ok then use a strobe gun to dial in your 6deg more accurately. Loosen dizzy pinch bolt and twist body to get it at 6 deg or thereabouts, use your ears too!
A strobe gun is not to everyones taste but a worthy investment i say and a nice piece of kit.
Before you touch anything go on youtube and watch the MSD ignition distributor install video, smashing vid and very very helpful! Good luck dude
