Ah what a great day, sun shining, landy on a jack, cold beer on hand and a new set of brake pads all round.:) Did'nt actually need new pads, the old ones had loads of life left, but I want to know a good jobs been done, so I replaced them all anyway, just for fun:)

Anyway, no change, understandably, in braking. All ok I guess, but, question is, what are brakes supposed to be like on a 94 300 tdi defer:confused:

Admitedly, I comming from a fully mod ABS car, but I with discs front and back I was expecting a bit more, er, rapid stopping power.

Without spending precious cash on a brake test, any guide to how good they should be? Can you lock up and skid? I can't. Don't really have a problem, just feel that in an emergency, I think I would park in the boot of the car in front:eek:

mine is much the same. but it could be due to the weight I carry.

partly worn vacuum pump maybe?

Im worndering how much diff new disks would make. got a set of drilled/grooved ones in the garage waiting to go on :)

if you can't locks wheels by pressing HARD on the pedal there's a problem - depender brakes, including the tranny brake, are more than adequate even when fully loaded

but they are a pain to keep maintained that way, that's why so many peeps think the brakes are generally poor
