Hello

if used for journeys reulary starts fine if left to stand for weekend come monday morning i am jumpstarting so i need a new battery.

i have heard optima batteries are good (£ pricey) but the say the red one is for starting and yellow is deepcycle for whinches etc. and alot of place say you need a split charge system fitted.

I have a which and uprated sterio system and spot light so the yellow would be beter for this but will it cope with day to day starting stopping.

open to ideas / sujestions quicker the better pasenger want leg room back cause i now carry a deep cycle battery to jump from everytwhere i go :D

if its failing on you over the weekend then you need to source the problem. mine stands for 2-3weeks and i have no problem starting it. sounds like you got a slow drain somewhere along your system.

by fitting an optima your not solving the problem, you may even end up with a dead one! now you dont want to waste all that money do you?

if you cant source the fault, fit a battery isolator switch and flick it when your not using your landy over a long period of time... also a great theft deterant ;)

The above is true however, a bad battery will do this, any longer than say shutdown at tea time and restart in the morning and the battery just looses all hope of starting an engine.

With the engine off, take the neg lead off, put an ammeter between the batt terminal and the lead, see what it reads with the car off, all electrics off, not even a interior light, and give us the reading.

Oh what engine you got?

Do you have an alarm or clock?

If like my 90 you only have a clock you should draw about 4mA.
