Well my battery has given up the ghost so was wondering what make anyone can recommend for a good price and quality for my Disco TD5?

Cheap ones tend not to last. My 2001 car is only on its second battery. I fitted the current genuine LR one 4 years ago and it hasn't given a moment's problem.

Sounds about right, my "genuine" LR battery fitted at the factory which was Lucas only lasted 4 years, then replaced with a Lucas battery from Halfords which lasted 9 years, so now on my 3rd battery which is now 5 years old, an Alphaline battery from Performance batteries, it does what's wanted. Just start the engine. :)

Halfords batteries are absolutely brilliant. The one that's on mine now is about 6 years old and still starting okay, it's getting weak though. After 6 years I don't think I can complain. Really recommend there batteries, especially if you can use the trade card.

Gone for halfords own brand as that's the only ones that they had which fit my car

The factory fitted battery on D2 was Delphi freedom 19001340 - 110AH battery, LR p/n YGD100860, anything below this power is unproper for it, these batteries are obsolete now and you can find more brands with same size and similar or higher power under the same p/n, IMO one of the best these days is this one https://www.tayna.co.uk/YGD100860-Enduroline-Battery-For-Land-Rover-P9073.html but as i said in other post too, any brand is good as long as it's not below the original's power some will last more some less depends on the manufacturer's skills

I bought a Halfords one last year as it was half the price the local LR specialist wanted to charge me. its fitted fine and done what I need without any issues. If its the right power then a battery is a battery, doesn't have to be sexy.
