New Aux/Cigarette Lighter

Hi peeps,
Trying to fit a new aux/cigarette lighter for a Sat Nav that i am fitting flush on the dash where the clock is (looks good)........however in my haste as i am a bloke and we can do anything, i cut the terminal to the original cigarette socket so that i run a spliced cable to the new one.

Simple i thought BUT cant get power to any of them now........checked fuses/connections etc........

Does anyone know what colour the LIVE & EARTH wires are to the lighter.....there is one that is BLACK & the other is sort of a purple striped colour.......totally doing my head in...
