Hi, Some drunk idiot gave a kick to my wing mirror a couple of years ago and broke the plastic housing (mirror still works fine though). I am trying to sell the car and want to replace the mirror beforehand - it seems to put people off. I don't want to shell out a fortune for a brand new unit from Land Rover, so 2nd hand will do. It is for a 51 model, so it's the fold in type (manual fold in not electric). I'd be grateful to know if the mirrors on the newer models will fit mine. Also, I heard that mirrors on 5 doors will not fit 3 door models (which mine is), this sounds a bit bizarre to me! If anyone can advise me on where to get a second hand mirror (I've already tried loads of breakers) or answer any or the other questions, I'd be extremely grateful. Thanks, Barry

I managed to fit a pair of powerfold mirrors to my 1998 5 door. I did have to increase the size of the locating pin hole. (Took a 13mm drill to it)

I have not used the powerfold function due to no wiring, but they were cheaper than one mirror from a dealer.

Regards,

Steve

OK, thanks very much.

The part you need is:

CRB501061PMD Door Mirror - Electric - LH - Convex - Heated - Non Powerfold - Freelander from 1A000001

They are listed at about £85 from the dealers, I think.
I had a breaker quote £105 for a second hand pair! What a joker. Nice try. Pull the other one.

The easiest way to get them might be eBay. For eBay "Freelander mirror" listings follow this link:http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=freelander+mirror&category0=

or can get them new off eBay for a "buy it now" price of about £75 inlcuding P&P. Here's one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LANDROVER-FREELANDER-DOOR-MIRROR-LH-2000MY_W0QQitemZ4630619775QQihZ002QQcategoryZ31348QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Freelander-Do...ryZ31348QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You can get them new or second hand off eBay for auction prices of about £40 to £70. For example http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Genuine-Landrover-Freelander-LH-Mirror-Assembly_W0QQitemZ160027073007QQihZ006QQcategoryZ31348QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem which I am currently bidding on is still under £30. As you are interested in it, I will not place any further bids on this item. Yours if you want it!

Hope this helps

Cheers
