It came on quite suddenly around 2 weeks ago, 200tdi.
When coming off the throttle, changing gear or going into neutral the revs drop way below idle, oil light comes on then it catches itself and idle returns to normal. This all happens over around 2 seconds .
Suspect it's a FIP issue?
I've got round it for now by locking the hand throttle at fast idle...

Should mention I don't have a lift pump and haven't for around 5 yrs, fuel filter replaced but no difference.

Could be pulling in air from somewhere
How did you join the pipes when you removed the lift pump?

I fitted a facet leccy pump under the driver's seat box using compression fittings then run new clear nylon tube straight to the fuel filter. Did this, dunno, 10 or 12 yrs ago. The pump packed up around 3 or 4 yrs ago and it still ran fine so I've never replaced it.
I'll go over the fuel line connections and replace the spill pipes as my next job.

Same as mine then, I probably got the idea from you!
New pump and filter cant hurt.
I used a copy facet pump, was a tenner from ebay.

Think it was one of these, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-ELEC...752898?hash=item33a43c6282:g:5OwAAOSww-tfvOYt

If this is a pucker facet have a look at the filter in the pump.
(Behind big nut)
I have facet is inline & not turned on. Lift pump pulls through no problem. Only turn pump on to bleed the filter.

Now is your accelerator cable too loose?
Can you wind the tick over stop out a fraction?

Update.
It improved all on its own but still wasn't right and I've only just got some get up and go back after catching covid so had a look today.
I pulled number 3 to 4 spill pipe off and although it looked fine in situ it was cracked when removed. I had enough pipe to replace that and it was much improved, probably back to normal tbh, fetching some more tube tomorrow to replace the rest regardless.

You must be feeling a lot better if ya solving problems like that. Well done, Flossie :)

What a shocker in a pleasing way:eek:.
All spill pipes renewed and the difference is very noticeable, starts instantly from cold, pulls better and idle is consistent now:).
Didn't think they would make that much difference tbh.
