Nankang Tyres??

Anyone have experience of Nankang tyres on a TD4? Seem to be mixed reviews from what I can see. Obviously the tyre snobs will say don't touch cheap Chinese sh*t!

Hoping to sell the thing soon, never go off road and the thing is too slow to fly round corners.

They are rubbish. Generally known as Nangkang No Grips ;)
When I bought my ZS180 it had a set fitted, in the wet it felt like I was driving on ice. I replaced them very quickly with some Falcon Ziex912's athough still a budget tyre the difference was like night and day!! If you want tyres, don't scrimp they are the only thing keeping your car out of trouble!
 
I had them on an audi a3. They were fine in the dry. Plenty grip (not as much as better brands) but still good. Absolutely terrible in the wet car used to badly under steer even when driving slowly on roundabouts Etc and also had a few close calls trying to brake down hills in the wet.

Given the choice I would try to source good brand part worn tyres From gumtree or ebay
 
My Td4 Kalahari had a full set put on when I got the car, the sp5 pattern. On 17" rims I've found them ok in both wet and dry, in fact I had difficulty getting them to spin up in mud! Stop laughing at the back.
Ok Ted the Gent is an auto, but it's no slug.
Done 10k on them so far, some wear on the front but nowt much. You pays your money etc.
I'd like proper tyres, but they were on new & I didn't pay for them so I'm happy
 
I've been having a good look at budget brands of tyres for Freddo and the one type of tyre I wouldn't fit is a new chinese tyre from what I've read

The best budget/ mid range tyre manufacturer is the korean firm Nexen. I've had three setts on three different cars and they perform really well and last. My son has even got Nexen's fitted to his 300 bhp V70R and he loves them.

when the Michelin Sych's wear out I will be getting either german imported Part worn Michelin's or a new set of Nexens depending on my bank balance.

I did look at the retreads from Ecotyres but they don't do 225/55 17R tyes
 
Nangkangs used be absolute sh!te. But they have improved alot with the NS2s.
Get a set of NS2-Rs :D


Nangkangs are a budget tyre but at least you know what your getting. There's far worse tyres out there and even worse stil is you go looking for good tyres and end up getting sold tyres that aren't meant for our roads such as a batch of Goodyear eagles that were meant for Asian climate. Fecking forklift tyres would have given more grip than those!


It's a freelander anyway... As much as it might handle better than a Defender or disco 1, its still not a sports car :)


Just stay away from real budget stuff such as the likes of Wanli, sunny, triangle and blatently cheap chinese stuff like that.

You're selling it soon .. just get the cheapest you can find.
 
I have had a set on for a while (not through choice), not used them offroad, but had no issues on road

These were my thoughts as well. When I bought the thing it had Fullruns on it - they were absolute rubbish!
 
Seems to be mixed reviews of them here as well. The offical ratings aren't bad - scores higher than a lot of the "premium" names: a B for wet grip, and C for fuel economy

I took the plunge and now have 4 Nankang Eco Comfort-2 on the beast. First impressions are quite good.
