So my new to me l322 sold as spares or repair by a very honest guy who had his mechanic look at his over heating 4.4 lpg v8.
Was reported to have hgf or worse so he decided to sell it on. Having just helped/mostly my mate john did all the work, do a complete rebuild on his thought it worth ago.
Compression test today which it passed and over 300 miles so far and no issues except leaking rocker gaskets causing slight missfire so the plan is a full service replace the rocker gaskets and enjoy.

Mine leaked out the rocker covers, which was strange as it doesn't have rockers, so I re-named them cam covers;)

Hard and crispy..............oops, .another story, .I digress,

The gaskets, oh they were uber goosed, and I also did done the PCV, which is pivotal, but doesn't move:cool:

Enjoy both.:D:D

Ps. buy new bolt grommets, or if your tight clart sealant on them.

Range on the petrol didn't move said 197 range it switches over in a couple of minutes from cold.
LPG 66.0 ppl
Petrol£130.00

Well done Dave, good luck with it.

Will you still be needing the timing tools for this one? - I am in no hurry for them back as yet, so if you still need them no probs, if not - we'll have to arrange a suitable time to meet up again.

Thanks Ant looks like I won't need it after a good compression test on the new one, name the time and place and I'll meet up and return it iv had if far to long sorry mate. The other one is running been road tested few niggles to sort from previous owner so I'll meet up with you in my new one.
Big thanks once again mate couldn't of done the rebuild with out the loan of the timeing locking tool kit.

So time for an update and over 1000 miles later I'm loving the L322 experience it was time to service the engine and sort out the leaking cam cover gaskets bit of a pig of a job but done now also found what I think caused the original owners woes.......leaking hose clamp off the T piece at the back of the engine for the LPG. Took a full 2 turns to nip it up. Still have the stat mod to do darkness stopped play and a lack of a dremmel to modify the stat housing.

Another update over the last couple of days iv carried out the thermostat mod fitting an 80 degree stat replaceing the 108 degree fitted at the factory then today replaced the lpg filters as not done for 46k miles

That should bugger up the emissions and possibly fuel consumption too.

Its a popular modification for this engine and so far mpg is the same on the cars trip computer as for emissions it switches to LPG with in 5 minutes, better than cooking all the rubber and plastic pipes under the bonnet. Its the main cause of failure for cam cover gaskets, rubber oil seals and hoses which have plastic push fits on them that go brittle.
:D
