hi all
Here is a story

After a lifetime of waiting and slumming it in pajero's and shogeys I finally persuaded the misses to get my first landy so after much searching and confusion I found my ideal disco, an 03 4ltr 83000miler fitted with lpg multipoint, full service history, excellent condition, all singing all dancing genuine car, from a dealer in Lancaster (I'm in Borehamwood, Herts btw) spoke with the salesman who convinced me the car was good. Up I go, 0510 train from Watford, another local train, cab etc. half asleep and 4800 quid later a buy my dream car, smiling like the Cheshire Cat, 45quids worth of lpg I head south on the M6, topped up the lpg half way and still showing 50% gas when I bliery eyed arrive home. Chuffed with my first landy
The following morning it all started to go down hill, having a proper look I see the loose HT cables the oil on the floor, empty gas tanks, fuel line swinging free, steering leaking and amongst much else the dreaded under seal covering the engine number oh yes, you guessed! Not the same as my log book or receipt!
It's not the nicest feeling! But I thought. He's a dealer and he'll have to sort this out! I'm babbling a little now so!
Well let's just say this all happend in January 2015, and in court last week, we found the guy had folded up the ltd company 3weeks earlier!! Case closed! Not good
however, on the brighter side of life, we paid £1400 cash and the remainder on the VISA bank card, we claimed from there disputes team and they covered the money returning it to our account and the car happy days or not??

And that brings me to why my first post here is rather long

So now I'm left with a beautiful Disco that needs major help that only cost £1400! I now seek some advice and this forum is highly recommended
I would like to keep the car but as a home mechanic I consider myself caperble of replacing an engine but as a motor electrician, on this car! I am a little worried about the Christmas tree like dashboard lights

What would you do??

PS
It' turns out its a 98 unknown breakers yard engine very loosely fitted!! I guess that will have to go?

If you stayed awake throughout this post, I thank you, if you can be bothered to respond that would be most grateful

Cheers Pat
