I am the once-proud owner of a P38 4.0 HSE (W plate)which has given me no end of problems since I bought it back in January. Tracking ( simple problem) cost me a new typre - not too bad;
Cylinder Head Gasket blown and porous head problem cost me complete head reskim and re-build at a cost of £1500
LPG conversion well worth the £2000 cost gives me a reasonable cost per mile
but now a brake problem (pump/accumulator/switch) could cost me £1300 to repair, most of which is the price of the part.
I'm struggling to determine exactly which of a number of 'similar' parts is the right one for my car - LR dealer in Luton quotes the LR part number LSTC 3787 but forums and 2nd hand parts dealers offer a variety of very different ones (ANR2242) or STC2783/2788 all depending on the Vin number. OF course all of the paperwork for the car is IN the car, which is over in Luton at present so I'm not even able to determine what the VIN is. However LR assure me that this part is a common part across the whole VIN range for the P38's.
I have sourced several replacements (STC 2783/ANR2242) at a reasonable price but don't want to buy something if it's entirely the wrong part....
Any suggestions? All replies suggestions/advice gratefully received
