MUDstuff centre dash questions

I’ve been wanting to make my own centre dash console for a while, but am struggling to really find the time and there’s so much else to do first. So am wondering whether a MUDstuff centre console might be a good enough option.

Have a couple of questions though for anyone who has fitted one.

What are the measurements of the centre recess bit for mounting stuff? Am trying to plan what I’d put where, but MUD don’t show the dimensions.

When its fitted, does the centre recess sit vertically, or slightly tilted downward? Have seen lots of pictures online, but can’t really get a good idea of it from a drivers perspective.

How much clearance is there behind it, i.e. from behind the recessed bit to the plastic trim that runs across the top of the landy shelf thing?

The installation pictures show that you have to cut out a huge part of the shelf, which I’m kind of begrudged to do. Is this still necessary if I don’t mount a radio in the bottom half? Is there another reason for the cut out?

Im pretty sure cutting is neccessary.

Its pretty tight behind there with a radio, carling switches, 3 gauges, 2 12v sockets and a twin volt meter!

Im prett sure it sits vertical, depends how well/badly you fit the brackets.

Your other alternative is the Raptor dash. Many say its better because its metal but it is a fair bit wider. Does have some nive features though.

Just bought a mud centre console and the tray that goes round the gear stick. Not got it yet but il put pics up once i get round to fitting it.

Ive got one of them trays waiting to go in to. Just haven't got round to sorting the electrics for the cigar lighter in it.

Thanks all for the pictures. Im just still not sure about the console. I'd like to mount a small 7inch display in it, but was hoping to have it higher up. Think I'll ponder this one and not rush into it.

This is my half finished one. the mistake i made when i installed mine was to install the stereo in the upper lower section. There was not enough room at the back for the sony head unit. I would suggest mounting where mine is currently if you buy one. they are a nice bit of kit if you buy one. I contemplated building my own but glad i bought the mud dash.
