Classic Mud flaps.

I want to put mud flaps on the front (behind the front wheels DOH !!) of Buttercup, I have the brackets etc but no clue as to the actual positioning of them. I did think to just offer them up on the brackets until they looked right then mark and drill fixing holes through the floor. Shallow headed roofing/gutter bolts seem to me to be best under the carpet, or is there a better way please??

Don't know if this might help.
"Brackets were black later on, I have a new pair somewhere. They fit roughly level with the end of the sill, slightly ahead of the chassis outrigger and bolts through the floor in 3 places."

I recall reading that front 'flaps were not such a good idea, but that was long ago & now I can't remember where I saw the article or the reason given, sorry

Might be worth looking into the pros & cons before drilling though?

That is very helpful, thanks very much.
I thought I had done a search, obviously my searching skills aren't up to the job.

All seems quite vague really so not too critical about how/where to fit them.
Thought it was worth asking the forum just in case I had my stupid head on and there was an obvious fitting already provided that I couldn't see.

Thanks for the comment, can't really think of any reason front flaps would be a bad thing, other than playing off-road, and that just aint gonna happen, (I've got a shed of a 90 for the rough stuff)
Obviously been searching in the wrong places.

Neither can I for that matter, but the memory persists

Something to do with the position of the flaps (or their fitment) encouraging corrosion rather than preventing it ?
I'll keep thinking, but in the meantime feel free to ignore me

Pushing me luck a bit here, not really too worried about corrosion.

Underside is very good and now is fully coated with dinitrol,

she isn't a daily driver is kept under cover, and gets a regular washing off anyway.

Done by a pro for mates rates, not by me I must say, in fact she is quite dirty at the moment and needs a wash.
Next on the list bodywise is to refurb the alloys, gloss black centres I think will look good.

Edited to say; this is my mates site, he really should update it, but you get the idea. At the moment he is about halfway through a bare metal renovation on a Mk 1 Jag. www.vintagevoiture.com
