What sort of tool is needed to undo the aluminium nuts on the mudflaps on a 86RRC ???

I could'nt figure out how to undo mine when deciding to fit new 'flaps so took the car to my local 'indie who had to cut them off & replace with conventional nut/bolts after fitting the 'flaps. Common problem apparently.
