wELL I picked up my fl2 auto on Saturday.Seems to run sweet enough but i was a little taken aback my the avg MPG which is showing at 23.8.Is this norm or could it increase a little with driving it as its been stood a couple of month.Would there be anything i could do to improve it a little.I didn,t expect it doing a lot more but 28 to 30 would be nice. Are the readings it gives out on mpg accurate or is it better to run your own check on exactly what mpg your doing.TIA

Which engine do you have? I bought my TD4 last year it's auto so I didn't expect miracles but it did 34 - 36 local and up to 40 on a long run (200 mls) . Suddenly a couple of months ago it dropped down to 30 - 32 local and 36 -37 on a long run.
Taking it to the local dealer tomorrow to take a look at it.

c Hi its the 2.2 engine its on a 07 plate

Should do better than 24 especially if it's manual, has it been serviced? I understand it's important to keep up with the fuel filter and air filter.
its an auto and its got 5 dealership stamps in the service book then it starts going down hill.Where i bought it from said they serviced it but i questoned them today nd they did not do fuel filter and don,t know about air filter.I,m having the cam done next week so i have told him to give it a proper service at the same time

The trip computer can be up to 10% optimistic, so you could doing less than you think.
Make sure the air filter is clean. If it's done more than 60K miles, it's worth getting the trany fluid changed, if it's not been done. Old trany fluid can cause the box to hang in a lower gears longer than needed.

update had the new cambelt and water pump on and a good service everything from brake fluid change engine flush all new filters which were never done at the garage where i bought it and they said they had done them .took it out for a good run an avg mpg is up at 34 so happier with that.I also had the trany fluid changed like you advised Nodge68
