My series 3 is in for test tomorrow, just wondered if there is a risk of shearing a halfshaft if tester using the wheel rollers if handbrake pulled hard and works well

only ask as i had to replace a rear halfshaft in last year, and i had not given it any cause for busting

Red this was info below you pasted on a disco handbrake mot query.
so the testers rollers will be turning my wheels both in same direction, id prefer the 1 in 6 ramp test, but not sure of the force put on the rollers and if they could twist/weaken a halfshaft?

TESTING TRANSMISSION (PROP SHAFT) HANDBRAKES
Carry out the following procedure:
• The system is set to default to the brake mode that tests the handbrake on individual
wheels therefore select the brake test mode that tests both wheels together.
• Keep the handbrake ratchet disengaged for as long as the brake is applied.
• Apply the brake slowly and progressively without causing transmission snatch.
Note:
A transmission handbrake fitted to a permanent four-wheel drive vehicle can not be tested
using the brake roller tester.

That's what they did on mine, I was in the cab and keeping ratchet off dragged it on very gently and slowly until the dials registered the right amount of drag...I've since checked the halfshafts and diffs and they weren't twisted by it. So long as nothing grabs it should be ok....but if your tranny brake drum is warped it might be grabby?
