Ok took my car in for an MOT today and it failed on a couple of points (i knew the guy wanted to find someway of failing it as soon as i turned up)

- Rear (rubbing on anti roll bar mounting both sides) coil spring not correctly seated...it's as seated as its gonna get, also has a 2" lift

- Rear (both sides wheel arches) seat belt anchorage prescribed area is excessively corroded

Would I be correct in thinking that if were to remove the rear anti roll bar and mountings, and the rear seats and belts, then the car should pass as they cant fail you for what's not there, right?

You could remove the rear seats If there are no seat for the passengers then the belts are no longer testable as they become "cargo securing straps" However the MOT tester will log it on the system as a 2 seater vehicle. and you may have some explaining to do to DVLA and your insurance company. Also I assume that you do carry friends & relatives in the back of your vehicle? If you want to kill or seriously maim them there are easier ways to do it, rather than waiting for you to be involved an a crash, so they can be catapulted into the front seats and killed. Even if this method worked. your insurance compnay and the police might have something to say on the matter

you proberly wouldnt get away with it as its already been seen and its not a commercial vehicle ....... as for the corrosion unfortuntly its a common problem your not allowed to have any corrosion within 12 inches of the seat belt mounts i had a bit of corrosion in the tops of the wheel arches as you open the doors i had them welded up for £30 cheap and easy fix not sure about the coil springs !!!

thanks, looks like i'll have to sort the corrosion out properly then

sounds like you had you rust in exactly the same place robint
