I had a realtivly un eventfull fail fro the MOT today, there is rust at each end of the long brake pipes from front to back. This is not severe, depending on how they clean up I am tempted to clean them and paint them as I ahve done a number of times before (due to the lovley weather we are having). The job of repalcing them looks to be not too bad are there any issues (I have non rusting copper/nickel pipe)? and how do you bleed the dual circuit system?.

The other fail is the ABS.. I had the swivel pin out so I suspect the sensor needs reseating, how Much pressure will these take to go back? as I got it as far as it would go but is still a good 1/4" higher than the undisturbed one on the other side

They're a safety item... I'd replace them if it were mine, just for the peace of mind.

Just push sensor in until it touches reluctor ring. It will set itself when you drive with any luck should be ok. If pipes have bad pitting change them. Covering up badly pitted brake pipes is a fools errand. I take it you did not go to the garage where blind Pew works.:D:D:D

Wammers, can you help me.?
I renewed all my brake pipes yesterday, should I replace them again today?
They are not very shiney any more...

Does the copper bush deform on removal... if so - doesn't that cause problems getting them back in? You can get new replacement ones from paddocks. You can also get the rubber thing is that's gone in this weather as well as a part.

Not usually if they have been greased up properly when put in and seal is sound. Think you will find bush is brass. They can be difficult to remove if someone has fitted them without grease.

The sensor seal is fine, however it stayed in the swivel, as did I think the bush of which you speak. As my sensor looked like a bit of tin with a wire at one end!. when refitting it pushed most of the way, but I had to tap it using the open end of a spanner layed on the top of it and used a hammer on the handle of the spanner (thus avoiding hitting the wire), I stopped before using a lot of force! how much is safe to use? can I hit it with a big hammer?

No that would not be advisable. You should be able to push it in by hand. It sounds like the brass sleeve is damaged and jamming the sensor. Or there is a buildup of crap inside the sensor housing.

Orr.. take the swivel pin out, remove sensor and put it on the lathe... should do the trick!

I have done the brake pipes, as too far gone to consider cleaning up, now nice copper ones. However the sensor.. bloody thing will not sit in properly. If I take the swivel pin out it will push in nicley, but as I bolt it back down it rises up, and so is 5-6mm proud of where it should be. Although I do wonder if I have rotated the swivel pin 180 degrees given the bush is not symmetric (one side the supports are sprung, the other pressed) and if this is the real issue

Looks like you have assembled something incorrectly. Go over everything again.

I have to add to this.. decided to check the codes.. first one I got was 2-3 which will be down to the pump being disconnected while the brake pipes were bled (I know now but thought it was a good idea at the time) I cleared this.. but I now have 2-6 which is the brake light switch, which is novel, as the brake lights work, and the Cruise control. I tried to clear this but it won't go. Any good places to look? both switches seem to be working when tested with a multimeter
