My S11A was last tested on 30/12/06 and the current certificate expires on 29/12/07. I have not gone about renewing this as I plan to rebuilt the vehicle.
Can I still use the vehicle on the road on the 29th? Or does it become invalid as soon as the 29th starts?
I've got a bit of petrol in the tank I'd like to use up!
Cheers

YES YOU CAN USE IT UP UNTIL 30 TH BUT NOT ON THE 30TH
YOU ARE ALLOWED TO USE ON THE ROAD WITHOUT MOT ONLY WHEN PRE BOOKED IN FOR MOT(taking it for test)

yes i think we covered that,,

and btw you are not allowed to use it on the road without a mot except to take it directly to or from a mot station or garage that is doing work for the mot and only if it is prebooked at the station in question..

legally you can't even stop for petrol or at a shop if the mot is expired as this is not direct and a cnut of a copper can and will book you just to be a basterd.

I've not checked the dates on my certificates, but from what is being said here if you always leave your MoT till the last day, you will lose a day every year! Surely this can't be right?

If you mot your vehicle a month or less before its current mot is due to expire then the new mot will start at the end date of the original one rather than overlap. In other words you can have a 13 month mot on yer vehicle. I do it when I can cos it gives me a month to do the repairs needed.

Can still drive in , but they can only do so many a day now , as its computerised and have a set time , so its better to book
What a load of **** you are not time limited to mot's nor are you limited to how many a day you are allowed to do . as a mot tester for 4 years i have had many arguments with vosa and had them backed into a corner many of times they are ****ers . mot scheme is a big con for the goverment and the motorist !!!! any advice on mot's please ask away i give honest advice and no bull**** from sunday morning oil changers oh by the way im also landrover dealer trained for many years !!!!

How long then does it take to carry out an MOT Test on a vehicle?

My son is an MOT tester too - it's virtually all that the Garage he works at does. When they went computerised, VOSA complained that they weren't taking long enough / doing too many per day, so they invited the inspector down to observe. He watched them doing 5 tests. The time taken ranged from 26min for a straightforward, good condition car, to 44min for an old rotter with numerous defects. The inspector couldn't find anything to criticise and told them to carry on booking tests in at 45min intervals (which is what they had been doing for years). That's despite the "official" VOSA guidance being that the test should take an hour.

So wot your saying then, is that every MOT tester that logs on to his computer at the beginning of the MOT test can log off it again as soon as he considers the test to be finished, regardless of whether he's taken ten minutes or ten hours?

I wouldn't advize changing your oil on a Sunday morning. I'd suggest a weekday afternoon after you've got home from work, this way the engine and its oil will still be hot. Thus leaving Sunday for God.

vosa's words are a mot take as long as it takes to do . these garages that take 30 mins to do it then 20 mins talking about it are wasting there own time and money . and as for the sunday morning oil fitters remark about changing it when u get home on a week day cos the oil is hot You are the type of idiot im taking about !!
