I've been cleaning up and painting the rear cross beam tonight, it has quite a few holes along it but the rot seems to have stayed on the ends, I have a good welder who is happy to weld it up and I can quite happily do all the grinding and cleaning up after, question is, to what extent of rust is allowed on the cross member? Obviously my plans in the end would be to have it all complete and 100% kosher but I just want to get it MOTed and on the road asap, I just can't wait any longer :D

um mine failed on crossmember rot, within 30cm of towbar I think chap said ...just took towball off and it passed the retest :)
I obviously changed the rear crossmember afterwards but if you are desperate to get it through....

Cheers buddy, I should be OK then once I have all the holes cleared up.

make sure it's not within 30cm of your spring hangars too though

someone will come along and correct my 30cm rule soon though as my memory is vague on the actual ruling

I have got that problem lots of rust, but I am a bit low on cash atm so I might give it a go myself been while since my last car servicing luckily MOT is due towards the end of the year so I do not need to worry too much

I had my brother cut mine off with a plasma cutter and weld in a new rear quarter chassis
Was easier and a lot cheaper than I thought and looked great
