FreeLander Head Gasket No not Stratstones the dealers but a protest website set up by an angry Gaylander Owner to gather information on Gaylander faults. Makes interesting but scary reading. As there's a few interesting emails on it I thought I'd post it here for you all to have a look at. I particularly like the way he's nicked stratstones name for his website.

Nice one Redhand

Same old, same old I guess,;) There was a name and shame for the MG/Rover k-series, at least LR had the no quibble warranty for replacement or repair.

Was interested to read Derek Lawson's email on the Payen gasket, its basically the same red elastomeric compound, only more of it........ so just prolonging the inevitable.

The new MLS gasket from Land Rover didnt come out until March 2006.

Some back street garages arent even aware of its existance

The attached thumbnail shows a grey tab that is present on the MLS gasket. If someone is about to purchase a petrol FL they might as well check for the grey tab while they are checking the engine serial numbers against the tax book. Its on the front of the engine, to the Right of the exhaust manifold, directly above the serial number. Difficult to spot without the undertray removed, a small inspection mirror will pick it up, the tab is black on the upper surface.
