Driving home from work this morning and the engine started off by refusing to rev over 2500rpm then it got gradually slower down to around 5-10mph max so I stopped the car and restarted and it was fine for about 400yds then did it again and again and again, I eventually made it home by constantly restarting and I'm now going to bed.
Maybe worth mentioning that it has the Prins+ lpg system but at the moment I'm running it on petrol, no messages but going on previous threads I'm thinking airflow meter,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, unless you kind gents know different :D

Can anyone help, I've cleaned the maf and tried driving it again, Drives spot on for a minute or so then dies, it restarts immediately and just repeats the problem, no error messages but the last time I noticed the fuel gauge went from showing a quarter of a tank to showing half a tank  do you think the sender is shot and it may be as simple as no fuel.

Ah well it's not fuel, just put a couple of gallons in
It will run perfect for a minute and then it's just as though someone turns it off, it always restarts but obviously not driveable :confused::confused:

sod this Sunshine, I'm talking to myself  Just tried it with fuel cap off, still the same, Bugger it I'm gonna have a drink ;)

hmmmm, no idea but if the car is just completely dying without warning AND there are no error messages then what about the fuel pump??

Fuel level might be because you stopped on a road with a camber and the vehicle was parked on a tilt. If I park my P38 on a street with a big camber I can gain or loose a quarter of a tank of fuel according to the gauge.

If you wernt on a road with a camber then sudden changes in fuel level could all be related I guess to the fuel pump and sender unit, they are all one assembly.

Have you tried running it solely on LPG to see if it runs ok then??

To be honest I have no idea as I have a diesel P38 which has all its own set of quirks but if something like this was happening to me then I would start with the fuel pump and associated electrics (relays/fuses etc).

Wills you may be on the right track, although I don't think it's the pump as it restarts instantly, I'm wondering if it is actually switching to gas somehow and because it's empty hence the stalling there must be a switch/relay/solenoid somewhere just got to find it.

CD, I might try a new maf first, by the way I was in Cardiff today (Family Christening) Had to drive the Volvo

I thought LPG systems started the vehicle on petrol and then switched over to LPG after a set time. Ive never ever owned an LPG vehicle but is this how yours is setup?? Can you override the LPG system to start and run on petrol only??

Trying to find out how to do just that, but as its a Bank Holiday it will have to wait until tomorrow, it was fitted by 'Enpower' in Poole Dorset so I will start with them.
Cheers
John

fault was in the lpg system (still is) but I can switch manually back to petrol now so at least we can drive it, if I ever find out how to repair it I'll update this thread.
thanks
John
