Mix and match shocks and springs?

My 110 csw has basic (maybe original) shocks and springs that are a little tired. I have 265/75/r16 tyres fitted which in effect appear to give it a 2 to 3 inch lift when looking at then sat next to my 90.

I have been looking at Terrafirma all terrain shocks for general use and light off roading rather than Britpart :p. I looked at the 'matching' Terra springs for general use and they give a 2 inch lift when unladen.

I am concerned that with the 2 inch 'lift' on the springs and 2/3 inches given by the tyres I would be top heavy, unstable and may snap my brake hoses?

Can I mix a new set of standard springs with Terrafirma shocks or is it best to use the same brand shocks and springs?

90% of my time will be on road, the rest fairly easy off road..... any other suggestions for shocks springs?
