Deepest Darkest...
Guys, as part of the 90 refurb' I've stripped the dash this evening to check wiring and have a thorough clean up. For a while I've been wanting to change the centre dash layout where the rotary light switch sits.

My thoughts are make new panel keeping the rotary switch, but in new panel cut holes/fit waterproof/HD 1x 12v cigar lighter, 2x USB ports, 1x rocker switch for additional interior lighting, 1x rocker for subtle front driving fog lights, 1x rocker for cooling fan override on/off.

Have any of you upgraded similar to above? Any other suggestions and pics would be great.

eta: most likely use Carling switches

Not the rocker switches but I put a socket in the ‘wing’ bits either side by cutting holes. I put a mini fusebox behind the main panel and ran power to it then off that I have running the 2 sockets, a hardwired dash cam and a 12v feed for a Bluetooth speaker

don’t see why you can’t do what you want, there is space behind and on the sides and next to the rotary switch. Some of the special military landrovers (snatch, wmik etc) all have loads of extra switches in that panel

Thanks @flat , using the side panels is an excellent idea. I need to look at a music system at some stage as would like some music/radio4/radio4 extra, ideally a DAB with blue tooth linked to mobile phone. Not sure about blue tooth speakers as haven't experienced these...are they any good?

Mine is, a jbl flip, an early one, I have had it years. Have hardwired in a charge port for it and just stream from my phone using my Spotify account, couldn’t be flagged with running speaker cables and putting in the dead unit etc.
Bluetooth and dab would be good, I have one but haven’t fitted it yet. Was going to connect that to the speaker with an aux cable

@flat , I really like this idea, despite being a modern day tech luddite [can't stand unnecessary ill thought through tech]. So, have just googled JBL and found their Extreme2 unit which I think will do the job nicely...2x 20 channels, Bluetooth to the mobile [I can play all music known to man + my favourite radio stations...R4, R4Extra, Absolute stations]...wire in a USB charging port + has mobile phone call function. Will put on Christmas list...:)

eta: it's also the safe keeping by removal from the car I like too...

yeah that was why I used a blue tooth speaker, well that and partly laziness that I couldn’t be arsed to wire in a radio and I wanted to keep the centre light switch thing.

I made a small bracket that my speaker sits in on the dash top and is help in place with 2x Velcro straps

trow install 1x cigar lighter,1x twin USB socket, 1x Carling fog light switch,1x Carling Revotec Fan override switch, wire up a refit dash

That’s pretty nice, would like to see when that’s all wired up :)

will post pics for share - not sure on supplies yet as need to take a look at aux fuses et al. will run cigar lighter and Carlings via relays - no need for USB's, just correct wire and fuses as low current - may drop in a spare fuse block dedicated for the dash + include a few spares.

now, trying to find/decide on front fog light specs...as don't want huge night road raiders types that take up the hole radiator, just subtle jobbies mounted from front bumper mounting bolts

what do you guys think of these...https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hla-005750991 I like the dark lenses...
