Milage problem

hi, i just bought a disco 200 tdi last week and i have a problem, The face of the speedo unit is cracked and the speedo needle drops every time it gets to 40mph. not a huge problem as i can get a second hand unit and fit it myself, however i was wondering if anyone knows how to adjust the milage to read the same as the old unit???

would that not be classed as clocking,
just make a note of both milages and keep the knackered clock set as proof when you flog it

Only if the speedo is adjusted to show a reduced. mileage.

There is no legal requirement to have a device which displays the mileage of the vehicle, However it is illegal to falsely describe an item for sale in an attempt to increase it's value.

If it's a cable operated speedo a drill on the cable will usually work. However some manufacturers have fitted anti reverse mechanisms. I guess your best bet would be to try it on the knackered sppedo and see.

or run the drill in reverse - and continue running the mileage on till it comes round a second time - it dunarf take a time tho

Drill, Drill Stand, Vice (to hold Speedo) Flexi connector for drill, Switch on and leave. Just remember to come back and check regularly.
