Hello,

I have purchased an 08 Freelander 2 HSE diesel (auto) (95k) for the purpose of work. It's going to be used in wet muddy conditions and carry equipment. I'm lead to believe they are very capable off road which is the main reason I purchased it. Unsure of the 'image' as it appears to be a hybrid of wax jacket Labrador owner, drug dealer and also a hint of dogger.

Jokes aside my main concern is that it will be mechanically reliable going forwards. I'm getting the cam belt and water pump replaced. Can anyone recommend anything else I should be looking at servicing to help longevity. Its been suggested I get the auto box flushed and oil changed - does anyone else recommend this?

I have also been advised I will need off road tyres as the site conditions are getting very muddy, does anyone have thoughts on this and recommendations for Tyre choice. Finally I would like to ask opinion on a remap - not for HP gains but to improve fuel efficiency given this will be a business vehicle with chargeable mileage.

Thank you very much if anyone has some sound advice.

If it were mine I would want to change all the liquids to make sure they have all been done.

Partial change the auto gearbox fluid every 50k miles. No need to power flush it. Partial change is ok. Use the correct method and quality oil.

The haldex fluid needs changed every 20k miles and the filter inside every 40k miles, if you want to keep the haldex in good health and reduce the risk of failure.

Change the power steering fluid reservoir as it contains a fixed filter, which can block over time. And change the power steering fluid anorl.

Change the engine oil, transfer box oil, rear diff oil, engine coolant and brake fluid.
