Have done the search but feel more confused. Had the car three years now and thought time for some oil changing down below. Have tried to find MTF94 on Jersey with no luck, was about to go down the dexron II/II route then messaged a seller on flebay and gave the reg number (previously uk car) and he recommended the following:

Smith & Allan EP 75w/80 Fully Synthetic Gear Oil 5 ltr | eBay

Which seems ok to me: so either dexron or the above.

Currently has castrol systrans in at the moment.

Sorry for asking and thanks in advance.

Should add it is a diesel with a power box clipped on.

They also have this:MTF 94 Gear Oil Rover Honda Landrover 5 ltrs | eBay

Google MTF94, there's more than enough.

Don't use Dexron, it's ATF

Well there in lies my dylema one for dexron one for MTF. I did ask the man about MTF94 and he asked for my registration number and came back and said his supplier suggested the oil in the link.

The advantage I can see of using dexron is I can use it in the transfer box?

I guess may be it doesn't really matter and I am worrying to much. The transmission is a little whinny and would like to keep alive as long as possible. I have greased and done axles. Just the gearbox and transfer box to do.

When I first got my diesel manual the gearbox was really notchy and changing down to second was a bit of a struggle. Drained it and refilled with MTF94 and it was like having a different box, much smoother and easier changes. Went through the same dilemma of MTF vs Dexron. GSF car parts sell MTF94 for about £10 per litre and they had it on the shelf so put that in. They'll send it to Jersey according to their website.

Thanks Grrrrrr, I have just fond the website and glad to hear some one has used smithandallen stuff, and have had a look at the data sheets and am inclinde to go for the fully synthetic 75w80 as it is not much more expensive. At the moment the guy on ebuy seems to be slightly cheaper for me with free delivery. Still interested in comments though and will order next week.

Thanks

Smith & Allan is good, used them plenty times, they also sell most of their stuff in larger quantities 20 - 200 liters with cheaper prices
