Hi everyone
Today i have removed the connector on the maf sensor and it has made no difference to how the engine runs, in fact it probably runs better. does this mean the maf is knackered. i was thinking of buying one of those new pierburg ones the one that finishes with t5he numbers 09, has anybody else done this.

if the engine does not change when the MAF is disconnected then it is kaputt matey. You can always nick the one off my TD4 to prove it

just been on rover ron site, it recommends not fitting the new 09 pierburg sensor so i will be giving them a ring tomorrow and ordering a mafam and maybe a pierburg maf on there advice.

Aye yer right there were reports that a few people had used this new pierburg Maf on Td4s but it appears that Ron has tested one and found otherwise.

One thing though as regards you assumption that you Maf is knackered, if you disconnect it and there is a marked improvement in the way the vehicle runs on its default strategy then you can conclude the Maf is shot.
If there is NO change then the test is inconclusive as the Maf could be good or knackered and the vehicle running on default strategy the same as when disconnected.

I have just bought the pierburg Maf off rover Ron. The info I got off him is that you can not replace the old Bosch one with the pierburg one without running it through one if his majic boxs (something to do with it being different signals)
I'm no the prode owner of a new ronbox 2a and a new maf sensor. I don't think my Bosch maf is faulty but it is recommended to change it if the mileage is getting up a bit, and it is never a bad idea to have a spare.
Now all I need is some free time to get it all fitted. I have the BMW crankcase breather to fit as well so it may as well all go in together.
I will let you know when it's all done : D
