Hi all,
Will introduce myself first - been reading and taking advice from the forum for a couple of years now, since I bought an '04 Freelander TD4. Replaced the HP pump, alternator, air con clunch, drop link and clutch master (x2) so far (there's more I'm sure!)... I've driven Land Rovers since I was a kid, learnt to drive in a v8 SIII and my first car was a 200tdi Defender so its the badge that's keeping me happy at the moment!
I've got a couple of questions if anyone can help me.
I changed the MAF sensor a couple of days ago (with a Pierburg 7.22684.11.0) due to lack of power under 2k revs/turbo, I've only had 3 short trips out so far but there's still no change, should I be waiting for a sudden improvement after 100 miles or so or should I start looking elsewhere for a problem?
The other thing is, since I bought the car I've noticed a strange pulsating droning and very slight vibration coming from the front of the car when driving over 70mph - It comes in at around 70 and is easily noticeable when cruising at 75-80 (French autoroute). I can live with it as it's not uncomfortable and has got no worse since I first noticed it but I'd like to get to the bottom of it if anyone can give me an idea of what it could be.
I think it's the engine not a wheel bearing/tyres as the noise stops if I dip the clutch, but I was wondering if it could perhaps be part of the drive train that's making the noise but only when under load? The VCU assembly is off the car currently as I need to replace the bearings bored, so that has been ruled out.
Much thanks for any advice!
