Just to let my fellow 300Tdi drivers aware. I have contemplated on using fuel additives in the past but I have always paid for the best fuel I can get i.e. BP ultimate as this does without a doubt make your engine run more smoothly and the added mpg from 30 to 32 in my case balances out the extra cost. Recently though I thought I would try and improve on this further and at the same time reduce the black smoke that we all get (don’t care if you say you don’t, just not possible with any diesel) on hard acceleration caused by un-burnt diesel. So I discovered Lucas Upper Cylinder cleaner, my engine and me are now addicted as this is absolutely amazing stuff it makes the engine a lot quieter, it improves power and that’s not placebo and it increases my mpg yet again by 2. I don’t work for Lucas but please consider trying it because the MPG balances out the cost not to mention the fact that it cleans your engine / injectors / fuel pump / reduces black smoke considerably.
Let me know how you go on if you try it or if you already have, I will appreciate if anyone says it's a waste of time but I know it works for me.
Cheers Richard
PS during my research on fuel additives I was warned away from anything that is not American as you may aswell just p8ss in the tank for what they are worth, so I narrowed it down to Lucas and Millers. Cant comment on Millers but I know it's more expensive than Lucas.
