Lt77 - r380

Hi all ive been searching but cant find nothing. Ive just perchased a series 3 and it has a disco 200tdi in it with a lt77 box but i have a recon r380. Would it be a streight swap if anything was to go wrong with the one thats in there now?

Thanx for that. But abit pricey lol. Is the r380 box any better than an lt77. And how can i tell if its a short bell housing?

std long bell housing is approx 25cm long lt77 is a good box if in good nick

Is the r380 alot stronger? And would it take more abuse as for offroad and towing?

the later g suffix lt77s are quite robust, r380 does have wider gears but j suffix r380s have the same bearings as lt77 ,r380 is stronger but whether youd notice it before something else in drive train broke

Isn't disco LT77 same size as a normal R380?
Surely if he's used disco LT77 box the R380 will fit straight in?

yes it will, you have to remove a dowl thou.

The lt77 is in now and if i put the r380 in will i have to modify anything?

It sits back a bit further than a standard series 3. And ill messure it now.

The r380 bellhousing is 25cm long. Will that be a direct fit for the current lt77 box which im currently runing??
