Anyone have any idea what that round thing is on top of this lt230 transfer case I’ve never seen it before

would it be possible to take a pic of where the intermediate shaft exits the casing on the gearbox side please as I have an idea to seal the shaft exit and need to see if it is proud and how much space is around the edge of the shaft to attach my "plaster " idea

That said I’m not exactly sure what you want a picture of lol
 
So it’s for electric solenoid to activate the cdl ? Is that right?
No. Its an interlock. I.E certain things have to be in place before it will allow.
I am not 100% sure but think its for Hi/Lo shifting. But dont know why or on what models (possibly Autos).
But yours has been removed of its solenoid otherwise you would have some wires coming out.

Don't want to derail this thread so some pics at an angle to show depth or protrusion of the shaft and the space around the shaft would be great
