Arse!
So I bought an LT230 for very little when I bought my last engine, got round to checking it over today, input gear is crewed, no splines left on it. Cant remember the suffix but its got the cross drilled gear, or I think it has, it has the oil paddles.

Anyhow, it was full of hardened grease around the gear bearings, so, would you take a chance on it and replace the gear and bearings?

oil paddles

Yeoh, on the back of the gear, they splash oil up dont they? From the oil feed plate?
Cant remember my old A suffix having them, it didn't have a cross drilled gear, so I cross drilled it myself..
never seen any of those ,early boxes can be fitted with catch plate and oil screw that would be needed for early 26 tooth thin input gear which theres no cross drilled version available suffix a and b frc5428,later suffix c on can have ftc5089 if 26 teeth, ftc5087 if 28 teeth

Would you take a gamble on it Martin? The bits will be around 100 quid, gear , bearings , seals , oil and shims. Its the hardened grease/oil thats putting me off. There was EP90 in it but it leaked all over the boot of my car on the way home.
