Hi all
I need to fit a tachograph (drivers hours not engine RPM) to my 200 TDI.

Does anyone have a part number and/or source for the sender which fits the speedo drive on the LT230 transfer box?

Thanks in advance
Paul

Hi
I'm fitting a used tacho that doesn't use GPS (a bit modern for me). I just want the widget that fits on the speedo drive and makes an electrical pulse.

Regards
Paul

Some LRs had a drive through speedo drive that gave a pulse how compatible the pulse is for what you need I have no idea.
PRC5956 or AMR3386

Or maybe try some kit car build suppier.

No luck with a sender so far...
Have tried tacho manufacturers but it is too old for them.
Have tried LR parts dealers but no go.
Have tried a couple of breakers but no go.
Plenty of defenders must have/have had had tacho's in the past surely?
Any thoughts? Maybe I could convert current box to electrical speedo output - that might make it a bit easier - does anyone know what is involved?
Thanks in advance

I don't know if it would work for what you are looking for but it may be worth looking at some of the racing stuff. You can get fittings for timing/trip computers etc that attach to the speedo cable to provide pulses. First found on google to illustrate the point: LINK

The early Range Rover speedo transducers pulse for the early electric clocks..they also have the output to still use a cable speedo

Just a thought with tacho…. Why do you need to record this, can you not just record this on paper.
Later style tacho have paper printouts for when you lose your card.

Could you wire up a hours run clock ?

Hi all
A quick update.
I have bought a sender and cable. I made up a bracket to carry sender, it mounts on two of the bolts on back of transfer box where a PTO or overdrive would go. It is a Hall effect sender so I added a couple of 'buttons' to the rim of the handbrake drum to trigger said sender. Time will tell how that works out. I have had some good advice from a tacho company in Nottingham who sold me the sender and bits.

Currently running wiring from sender to dashboard. Have purchased a used Stoneridge tacho from Ebay (I know I know...).
Hopefully next week I will have it together.

If all goes well I will put up some pictures and part numbers etc in case anyone else wants to do the same.

Regards
Paul
