I have read that the lt 77 pre 200tdi is slightly higher geared than the 200 tdi lt77 so my question is that being the fact is there any point fitting a 1.2 lt230? To replace the 1.4 or have I got this wrong I am starting to doubt myself. Any advice ??

Thanks andy

Not so I recon. Think they were all the same. What were different was 77's fitted to V8's but what ratios I do not know.
Try Syncro Gearboxes.com webb page for info.

Ashcroft transmission is the place to check. Give them a call with your questions and intentions. They are the worlds best, and known world wide

Ashcroft's?? I phoned the asking about shims for the lt77 layshaft dont sell them dont know where to get them ect ect. So I went shopping at paddocks got a new cross drilled input gear and the shim I was looking for. Ashcroft just ripping people off . The price they charge for a recon box you be lucky if you got new baulk rings forget new gears ect . I'll just shop elsewhere now. Regards the ratios I found a site that listed they were different just before the intro of the 200tdi cant find it again I was just hoping some guys on here know a lot about the gearboxes

As above look at the " Syncro Gearbox's "web site plenty of info about the gear ratios of LT77's and 230 transferbox.
MO, post 200 tdi's had R380 box.
