No don't worry, the heading may sound slightly misleading and make it seem like I want some kind of pimpmobile but that is not the case.

I've just read the 'lifting your landy' thread in the faq section and think its time to do what I've wanted to do for a while and that's to take the two inch lift off it and back to standard height. It was lifted when I bought it however so I haven't a scooby if any of the mods mentioned were even done. If they were done, is there anything I need to change before putting standard springs and shocks back onto it?

Cheers in advance,
Dave

It depends how far the previous owner went with the lift???

shocks and springs
cranked trailing and radius arms
bump stops
propshafts

If the lift is already on and dosent cause you other issues then id leave it. 2" isnt a big difference visually.

It does tend to wallow a bit when going around corners, a bit like a galleon at sea. I'm not into lifts anyway to be honest and its got standard props on it, I know that for a fact so I'm thinking if they're still the same then what else hasn't been changed. How would I recognise any other mods?

Look for reinforcement type angle iron running down the bottom edge of the trailing arms, and look for holes in radius arms towards the chassis side. Them are regular tells that the parts are none standard. Other than that there isn't many mods that would adversely affect you if you return it to stock height

if the radius and trailing arms look like cast iron pieces of **** then chances are they are standard.

Just return your suspension to standard, and that should be you. :D

2" lift doesn't mean the def is not good on the road.
it depends on WHICH lift kit you have.
old standard springs are **** compared to new 2" springs and shock absorber of good quality...
if you have some procomp 2".. well.. not nice on street.
I have energy 5 by Equipe. now def is a kart on road and pretty good offroad.:D
some pics of your springs anc shock absorber will help to understand better the situation
ciao!

Not the greatest of photos (its pitch black outside) but hopefully you'll be able to see well enough. Cheers in advance.

I must say I prefer mine now I've gone back to standard height from a 2" lift.

I had HD bearmach blue springs with tuffback shocks, and while it cornered well, the ride was bordering unacceptable for a daily drive.

Now fitted some new standard springs, and teffafima shocks, and while it does roll a little more it is not bad. Also passengers don't complain about either the ride or the climb up!

Only issues with the terrafirma shocks are that they were sold to me as an uprated standard height shocks, but the rear springs drop out the seats when jacked up, which caused a lot of issues during the MOT.

One of my springs broke so I bought 4 standard ones. Funny thing is its only 1/2" an inch lower now lol, I suppose the old ones must have sagged.

Main reason I want to change mine is that when I bought it it was done up purely for off road use so I'm guessing its got hard springs on it. Even going over a small speed bump damn near breaks the spine of anyone sitting in the back. I think its down to hard springs anyway, I really don't have a clue
