Looking for some advice please!

Just been poking around under the defender & noticed the corrosion on the O/S lower spring seat has sped up rapidly... Was hoping it would hang on till MOT time but the rear half of the seat is quite bendy now. The forward half is a little more secure, and I just stuck a gopro under and too it down the drive & there doesn't seem to be any flex when driving.

The axle mount is also on its way out, so I plan on getting that welded & a new lower seat. But my question is whether it's safe to drive 15 miles to the garage?

I usually go on the cautious side with stuff like this, but interested to hear other opinions!

Cheers!

It'll be fine. For belt and braces tie a small rachet strap in two places around the lower spring coil onto the axle tube...and just drive gently.

I had a similar situation when I was cleaning under the bump stop on my axle. Poking the crud from underneath and it just flipped off revealing a scab underneath. When I checked further a few brackets were in need of attention.
I ended up getting a second hand disco axle case, cleaning it up and swapping it.
