Hi all,

Have a 04 TD4 5 door HSE. 50,000 miles

Recently noticed a few things,

1. a knocking from front suspension when turning.
2. a knocking from the tunnel area when accelerating in 2nd 3rd.
3. a low pitch rumble from the tunnel area from about 15 mph, seems to disappear at higher speeds but does not diminish when de-clutched.

I have some suspicions but I'd like a 2nd opinion before I take it to my dealer.

Thanks

I dont know about your front end noise but my freebie did that rumble/knock in the tunnel area and i replaced the propshaft bearings. The rubber doughnut gets baggy and the prop moves around under load.It cured mine.

Thanks Shane,

Yes, that is what I suspected for the knock / rumble. I think It may be the anti-roll bar mounts causing the front end knock.

Yep the front noise is more than likely drop links on the anti-roll bar, sounds like a little drum kit at low speeds.

As Bigshane suggested......Check those prop bearings too

Yes, that's exactly how it sounds, I assume it's just a case of getting under there and tightening them up, no special tools etc?
